Good morning, Big Blue Nation! Friday, August 28 — welcome to the weekend.
As we mentioned yesterday, the SEC's intraleague transfer prohibition isn't great news for Mark Mitchell and UK. Matt Norlander of CBS has a really good piece on the situation, breaking down the complexities of Mitchell's eligibility and the SEC's enforcement of its newly finalized transfer rules. The conference is taking a hard line, and Kentucky will have to navigate the legal waters carefully to get Mitchell on the court this season.
The glimmer of hope for UK fans is that Mitchell could have immediately gone back to Missouri or transferred out of the SEC. Instead, the court battle is on. Kentucky is fighting for Mitchell to stay in Lexington, and the legal machinery is in motion. This isn't over.
KSR has a preview of UK football's opening week opponent. As I write this, Youngstown State leads Mercyhurst 49-3 late in the fourth quarter. Some writers have the Penguins as a trendy pick to upset the Cats.
