Good morning, Big Blue Nation! Sunday, September 13 — there are days when it’s great to be a Wildcat, and then there was Saturday. A tough day all around for Kentucky athletics.
The energy at Kroger Field was electric early, and Kentucky actually went into the locker room at halftime holding a 17-13 lead over No. 12 Alabama. But the second half was an absolute nightmare. On3 takes a painful look at the second-half collapse by the numbers, while The Kentucky Kernel details how a total lapse resulted in a 45-17 defeat. Down in the Bahamas, the news wasn't much better for court sports. No. 3 Kentucky Volleyball suffered an upset loss to No. 8 SMU. Craig Skinner's squad doesn't have much time to dwell on it, though, as a quick turnaround match against Houston awaits today.
Let’s wrap up with a silver lining. Mark Pope spent the weekend hosting one of the nation's top basketball recruits, bringing him out to Kroger Field to experience the atmosphere. Let’s just hope they snuck out at halftime before things got sideways!
