Daily Update • August 30, 2026

Good morning, Big Blue Nation! Sunday, August 30.

Let's start with the best team on campus — UK volleyball. The Cats swept South Florida on Saturday as Craig Skinner earned his 500th career win. It was a dominant performance that showcased the depth and firepower of this Kentucky team. Skinner's milestone is a testament to his consistency and excellence — 500 wins is a remarkable achievement in college volleyball.

Craig Skinner 500th win

We're finally only six days away from kickoff, and Kentucky is a three-touchdown favorite over Youngstown State. The Cats are expected to dominate this matchup, and a statement win would set the tone for Will Stein's first season. Everything is building toward Saturday night at Kroger Field.

Speaking of football, there's a new rule this year — the fair catch kick. College football is adding another wrinkle to the special teams game, and teams will need to understand when and how to use this option. It's one of several rule changes coaches will have to teach their players before the season starts.

While the Mark Mitchell situation is still in litigation, the SEC might have cracked the door for his return if he can get a favorable court ruling. The legal battle continues, but there's a glimmer of hope that the conference could clear a path for Mitchell to suit up. Kentucky will keep fighting, and the next court decision could change everything.
